Welcome to the Superstar Dogs Certification Programme – your pathway to getting your dog recognised as a professional animal talent. Whether your dog is destined for film, advertising, or modelling, our certification system ensures they are well-trained, confident, and ready for any set.
At Superstar Dogs, we certify dogs in three progressive levels: Certified Animal Model (CAM), Certified Animal Extra (CAE), and Certified Animal Actor (CAA).
These levels ensure your dog is trained using positive, fear-free methods and is well-prepared for professional roles in the entertainment industry.
The certifications must be completed in the specified order: CAM (Level 1), followed by CAE (Level 2), and finally CAA (Level 3). This order maintains the quality and standards of the programme.
Each certification level ensures that your dog is ready for specific roles in productions, from modelling in photoshoots to acting on major film and TV sets. Our certifications promote humane training practices and build your dog’s confidence, ensuring their well-being while performing on set.
The Certified Animal Model (CAM) certification is designed for dogs who are ready to model for photoshoots, commercials, and promotional work. At this level, your dog will demonstrate essential skills such as sitting, staying, and recalling on command. They will also become confident around distractions such as cameras, people, and lights.
What You Need:
Why CAM First?
This certification lays the foundation for future training and ensures your dog is comfortable in busy environments. It focuses on building your dog’s confidence and reliability in simple tasks.
Once your dog has achieved CAM certification, they can progress to the Certified Animal Extra (CAE) level. Dogs at this level are trained to handle more complex environments and scenarios, such as working alongside other animals or being part of a larger production. CAE dogs are ready for roles as extras or supporting characters in film and television.
What You Need:
Why CAE Second?
The CAE certification prepares your dog for a broader range of roles in productions, helping them become familiar with the increased noise, people, and chaos of professional sets.
The Certified Animal Actor (CAA) is the highest certification level. At this stage, your dog will be trained to perform advanced skills under various, often chaotic, conditions. CAA dogs are ready for leading roles in films, TV shows, and commercials, interacting seamlessly with professional actors, props, and complex scenes.
What You Need:
Why CAA Last?
The CAA certification ensures your dog is highly reliable in professional productions. At this stage, your dog is fully prepared to take on leading roles and perform advanced tasks in demanding environments.

You’ll be able to train your dog using positive, fear-free methods, with step-by-step instructions to ensure success.
Regardless of your personal training methods, all animals trained for the entertainment industry must be training using positive, fear-free methods.
Skill Demonstration.
Once your dog is trained, record a video of them demonstrating the required skills for the certification level you’re applying for.
The video should be filmed in a busy, distracting environment to showcase your dog’s ability to focus and perform under different conditions.
More information about video requirements are available when you begin.
Submit Your Application.
The submission process is built into a step-by-step course format. As you work through the course, you’ll be guided on what to submit at each stage.
You can upload each demonstration video as you complete the relevant sections of the course, and your progress is saved along the way.
This allows you to submit your videos gradually, without needing to complete everything in one go.
Evaluation & Approval.
After submission, our team will review your video and assess whether your dog meets the requirements for certification.
Once approved, you’ll receive your certificate and official certification.
Create and Maintain Your Profile.
After certification, you’ll create a profile for your Superstar Dog on our website, showcasing their skills and talents.
As your dog gains experience and completes more work, you can add credits to their profile, further enhancing their visibility and credibility.
A $20 per month fee applies to maintain the profile, ensuring it stays up-to-date and accessible to businesses seeking animal talent for productions.
